Anna Hutchison is babe in the woods

JUST when we thought Anna Hutchison couldn't get any hotter she has upped the ante again.

The former Shortland Street favourite, who can be seen on telly in Underbelly and Go Girls, has been unveiled as one of the stars of upcoming thriller The Cabin in the Woods.

She has already jetted out to Canada to start filming on the MGM movie, in which she plays a camp counsellor alongside Revolutionary Road's Kristen Connolly, Star Trek actor Chris Hemsworth and Fran Kranz, who appeared in The Village.

Written and directed by Drew Goddard, who has produced and penned scripts for Lost and Alias, the film is being produced by United Artists who were responsible for Tom Cruise's Valkyrie, which made NZ$350 million worldwide.

While the plot is being kept very much a secret, the script is described as "genre-twisting" leading the audience on a journey as the characters head to a cabin where a variety of terrors lurk.

"Finding this ensemble has been very hard and very rewarding," said producer Joss Whedon.

"Each of the `kids' is unique, fascinating and talented, and like true friends, the group is more than the sum of its parts."

The role continues Anna's transformation from Shortland Street's tomboy Delphine Greenlaw to universally popular screen siren.

After playing a poor little princess in Go Girls and a sexy drug mule who constantly flashes the flesh in Underbelly, Anna had previously said she was looking for something more conservative for her next project.

But, in taking the part of a camp counsellor in a horror movie, she is continuing her trend of playing a wide variety of characters, which suits the 23-year-old down to the ground.

"You want something that will challenge you," she said.

"I'm lucky the roles I've had since I was 16 have been totally different to how I am."
